Getting an Ampex VR-1200 ready for air.

I began my career at WSWP-TV in Beckley, WV. The station was a part of the West Virginia Public Broadcasting Network. The day that I graduated from Untied Electronics Institute in October 1970, I began work at WSWP as a broadcast technician.

For recording and playback of network programming we used the Ampex VR-1200B
Quadraplex machines.

Attached is a photo from our program guide from December 1970. I am setting up one of the Ampex tape machines for on-air playback.
