LOL I have the Ampex 400 that is featured in the YouTube clip, it's a late one February 1953 from memory and is the military version as it comes with 350 electronics.
Yes it is still complete and not many of these around full stop - even less Ampex equipment of that vintage in the UK and working as far as I know.
I am in the process of decorating and tidying the house and it really should be powered up and used frequently.
I suspect that there are very few of the Ampex 400 Military Spec'd versions around anywhere.
Regrets that it is not stereo, I can get over the odd push me pull me method of tape transport.

Great, I am happy to hear it! I had one up until 2002 when I made a decision to sell it. I now look back, on that decision, and wish I would have never let it out of my collection. Looking forward to adding one back into my collection in the near future.
