Dave Kennedy Studio - Milwaukee, WI

My first experience with a multitrack machine was the MM-1000 at Dave Kennedy Recording Studio in Milwaukee. I was 18, and in awe of that thing. It was in the corner of the control room with some colored flood lights aimed at it. It was beautiful!

I now have a 24-track Alesis HD-24. It's great, cost a fraction of what that Ampex did 30+ years ago, gives better results, media is almost free.. but I'd still love to see the reels spinning on an MM-1000 in my control room.

Oh, you know that little button you can push to bring the heads down to the tape so you can find a spot? Don't ever push that when rewinding. It causes the studio owner to yell at you.
